This support is offered to men going through challenging times. Our role is to help them face temporary difficulties and refer them to appropriate resources when needed.

Goals
- Welcome men and normalize the act of seeking help
- Support participants through transitional periods (retirement, separation, job loss, grief)
- Identify behaviours at risk of violence
- Develop better self-awareness
- Improve non-violent communication skills
- Develop and maintain healthy and equal relationships
- Refer and guide them toward suitable resources based on their challenges
Trajectory
Initial phone contact
To begin a process with AVIF, we require that the man contacts us himself by phone. An initial phone call with a counselor will be conducted to establish a connection, assess his situation, and explain our services.
Intake meetings
He will then meet with a counselor as part of the intake process. This process, which typically requires 2 meetings, helps to identify the man’s needs and gives the participant an opportunity to reflect on the goals he wishes to pursue in his journey.
*Please note that there may be a delay of a few weeks between the initial contact and the first intake meeting.
Individual counseling
Depending on the participant’s identified goals, individual counseling consisting of 5 to 8 sessions is offered.
